We are very excited about the ‘Nenasala’ project we have got from Information and Communications Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (www.icta.lk). We will get 24/7 broadband internet connectivity through this project, opening a lot of new opportunities for us. Most of the equipment for the project has already been installed and we hope to launch the project immediately after we get the internet connectivity. We take this opportunity to thank everybody at the ICTA and related organizations for giving us this great opportunity to become ‘Global Citizens’.

New Computer Center One of the biggest problems we had so far is the lack of room for both the IT Center and the library in our tiny building. It is with great pleasure we announce the moving of the IT Center to a new premises. We rented this building, less than 200 meters away from the library building, to accommodate the ‘Nenasala’ project with ICTA (www.icta.lk) and the BPO project with FARO (www.farolanka.org). The support for this event was kindly granted by Michigan-Sri Lankan Cultural Circle.
A group of Sri Lankan expatriates living in Canada have kindly come forward to give scholarships to talented children from the low income families of the Werenketagoda area. 11 children received scholarships on 25th January 2008 under this scheme. These talented children from two schools in the area have been selected by a committee consisting of principals and teachers of the schools, representative parents and government officials of the area. The children are from several villages in the Uhana Divisional Secretariat Area. We at Prabhavi are very happy to see the successful conclusion of this second stage of our scholarship programme. We thank all of you who help our needy children.
The recepients of this program have received their second month stipend at the monthly progress meeting on 02-23-2007. Prabhavi scholorship committee will be sending progress reports and the written communications of the students to their corresponding donors once in every two months.
